The Christian Post article on SBC’s motion to ban female pastors fails with over 60% support (and my remarks)

The headline in the below Christian Post reads “SBC motion to ban female pastors fails with over 60% support.” But I could care less what the corrupt woke SBC says. The Bible tells Christians to earnestly contend for the faith, not the SBC or other parachurch ministries.

Nearly three years ago, I visited a Baptist church in my new small town of 700. But I learned they were SBC when a brother asked me in Sunday School, “Bill, what do you think of females teaching men in church?” Bear in mind that I’m the “new guy from California,” or as some said, “A transplant from California.” I replied something to the effect. “It doesn’t matter what I think. The immutable Scriptures have already spoken, and they are sufficient. Moreover, the Bible warns women are not to teach, lead, or demonstrate any authority over the men – period!”

An elderly Deacon (a male) who apparently ran the church angrily told me. “That’s not what our Southern Baptist Convention says!” I then assertively quoted directly from the Bible on that subject, and the Deacon told me (all of us) that they would obey the SBC over the Scriptures.

“In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.” – 1 Timothy 2:9-12

Applicably,

“Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.” - 1 Corinthians 14:34-35

Since the above church visit, I have learned a majority of churches in my community are egalitarian. The levels of egalitarianism vary from;

  • a female elder
  • to bible teachers
  • to ministry leaders
  • to Sunday school teachers
  • to a pastor indoctrinating egalitarianism from the pulpit
  • to a pastor calling on a female to read the Scriptures in church
  • to a female praying before the congregation before communion
  • to females in the front and center leading the congregation in worship
  • to a Pastor’s wife asserting herself with gender equality as a co-leader
  • to a teenage girl opening and leading the order of service by reading a chapter from the book of Psalms.

If any of these ladies are regenerate, they are not our enemies. As the Scriptures say, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Eph 6:12).

Nonetheless, Satan and his Demons are still entering the Garden (so to speak) of the local church. Some of these egalitarians are our sisters, but similarly to Eve in the Garden, the Serpent has deceived them, and they are rebelliously deceiving their churches. And sadly, similar to Adam in the Garden, their beta male pro-feminist pastors or husbands sinfully acquiesce to it. Because of egalitarians’ (feminists) sinful rebellion against God and His creation order (or order of creation), I do consider egalitarians spiritual enemy combatants. Yes, you read it correctly. Egalitarians should be considered spiritual enemy combatants!

And so the brethren, we must “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” For better context as Paul told us in Ephesians 6:10-18,

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

Earlier I mentioned the Bible tells Christians to “earnestly contend for the faith,” not the SBC or other parachurch ministries.

In Jude 3 Christians are told to practice that Hapax Legomenon – Epagonizomai, which is “to earnestly contend for the faith.” In Greek, it is a militant contention for the faith and a Biblical ecclesiology (video here). If we want a healthy Christianity, we must do the following. Engage in Biblical apologetics (apologia). Obey the hapax legomenon to earnestly contend for the faith (epagōnizomai) and sound doctrine (hugiainō). The Greek application means to struggle with intensity, to agonize as a combatant. And we do so for our spiritual well-being and healthier church (1 Pet 3:15, Jude 3, Titus 2:1). But be ready. You might wrongfully be called unloving, ungraceful, or a legalist.

A solution? Abolish the SBC and/or run from the SBC. Semper Reformanda!
