Actor George Clooney just sold his ‘tequila company’ for 1 billion dollars
Clooney is not born-again of Christ’s Incorruptible Seed. Therefore I do not expect much from him. However as the LORD said, “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26).
But to those that ‘profess’ to be born-again, we have a higher calling, and a higher expectation. We are commanded to repent and obey the Gospel. Hence we must be sanctified from the rest of the non-saved worldlings.
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever” (1 John 2:15-17).
“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, the spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?” (James 4:4-5).
“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards (μέθυσος), nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10.)
Yes Clooney may be laughing all the way to the bank, but he won’t be laughing in eternal hellfire.
Thank You Lord for saving a wretch like me, and for delivering me from this toxic poison also known as alcohol.
