Beautiful Snake leaving our homestead
As I left our property, I saw this beautiful snake slithering across our gravel driveway. By the time I grabbed the cellphone camera, it was basking on the warmth of the asphalt. This is the time of the year when it’s warm enough for snakes to be seen – a lot. But since it’s not hot yet, they prefer the warmth of the pavement. That’s why we see so many dead snakes in the roadway. So be careful of snakes crossing or basking in the sun. After further research, I believe this snake belongs somewhere within the King Snake family, but I could be wrong.
Update: As per a YouTuber / FB friend, it’s a Chicken snake. The King, Corn and Chicken snakes here in the South are similar in appearance.
