I almost shot a Pickwick Utility employee
Forgive my rambling, but this was too important to hold back. To some, I am a fool for making this video. Others will appreciate it. Nonetheless, I am a fool for Christ. I give commentary on this problematic experience, offer some solutions to the problem, a two-minute music video, and then close with a blunder at the end.
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you“– 1 Thessalonians 5:18-18

Some people move here to this environment to get away from over populated city’s that the crime and drugs are right in your face on a daily . And we very guarded and protective of ourselves because of our past environments or careers like this gentleman’s case from working law enforcement in a big city he knows the evil he recognizes things that people that have lived in a rural setting most of there lives don’t see or recognize .
I myself have been robbed at gun point held hostage beaten with a bat and it all started with a knock on the door . So I fully understand his situation. And if u cross my gate and are on my property without me having knowledge good chances u won’t walk off my property the same as you walked on it .
With all this said I know now I need to bust out my laser engraver and make a sign for my gate with a warning and contact phone number to call me first .
If anyone likes this idea please reach out I’ll be happy to make personalized signs for a small fee .
God bless
A great comment from James S.
You know, if enough Pickwick Electric customers call or write them, requesting that they address their policies to include notice of intent to venture into customers property for service related reasons, they’ll end up amending their policies to reflect that.
As far as the video, I commend you for making the video to share your perspective and experience. I would however offer this bit of constructive criticism.. try to remember you aren’t in California anymore. Living so on-edge, with your heart conditions as they are are, really increases your chances of additional medical episodes.
Perhaps (and you may have already done this) install a motion/vehicle sensor on the end of your driveway and have a buzzer in the house. Then you’d know when someone is approaching.
Second, install some security cameras around your home, with the motion notifications that are sent to your phone. Someone’s outside, you get a notification, you can tap on the screen, and now you see exactly what’s going on.
Just with those two things, you can alleviate most of your reactionary alarming. Obviously you should respond in kind when needed, but in the end, remember this isn’t Los Angeles.
It’s good to set up the proper safety mechanisms, but most importantly, relax! And while you’re relaxed, call Pickwick and tell them they should give a heads up via a phone call or maybe even a text message, or a mailed notice, or a door knob hanger, that they intend to perform repairs on your electrical service, in advance of doing such things.

I’ve had so many people tell me “you live deep in your property in ‘BFE’ you don’t have to worry about people just walking up to your door”. False. Having come from the Chicagoland area (as well as some unfortunate life experiences) I (somewhat) understand your mindset regarding how you initially take anyone who just shows up. It’s automatic analyze & defense mode.
Another area Pickwick was unreasonable and unethical was this. On 03/01/22, while still in Calif., I called Pickwick to open an account and schedule the turning on of our service.
They asked for my social security number. When I asked why they needed that, they advised they were going to run a credit check before starting an account. I told them they have no authority, no right to know, nor a legal need to know my social, nor to run a credit check on me; lest they violate Federal law.
They put me on hold and came back with this punitive resolution.
Because I refused to give them my social or allow them to run a credit check, they advised me I would need to pay $409.75 upfront, before turning our electricity on. So I paid their fee.
Nonetheless, this shows they have no respect for our privacy, and this unethical practice should also be challenged and changed as well.
Warning to any future victims. Twice in one week, after our postal lady inserted mail, and after I later removed it, evidence shows a would-be thief went inside our mailbox. One of many solutions is to take your important outgoing mail directly to the post office. And if possible, remove your incoming mail immediately after your postal worker deposits it. More importantly, to any thieves out there. I have some bad news for you. You are a transgressor of the 8th & 10th Commandments, and hellfire is imminent; read the below page. But if you REPENT and believe in the Gospel, it becomes Good News.
