Our Kubota L4701HST Tractor, Trailer & Implements
Because we’re new in Tennessee, we knew we needed to make some initial improvements. But we’ve learned that hiring workers with the proper equipment over the past five months was more costly than we anticipated. Moreover, now we realize looking forward, that future annual costs for land management will be more than we thought (to hire labor).
It can be difficult to know where to shop, and whom to trust, so oftentimes I’ve had to rely on referrals from strangers on Facebook groups. I asked one McNairy County Facebook group where to buy our tractor, and I obtained five different recommendations. I tried them all, and none of them treated us as we hoped. It’s clearly a sellers’ market today, and productivity all over the USA is below average. Nonetheless, by accident, we found Byrd Implement in Chester County as we were driving from one tractor dealership to another.
My review of Byrd Implement.
Even knowing it is a sellers’ market, Bryon Byrd treated us as if it were a buyers’ market. We were also impressed with the attitude, customer service, and professionalism of other employees. We knew then, Byrd Implement is where we’d purchase our first tractor, and we did.
Henceforth, we purchased a package deal. A Kubota L4701HST with a LA765 loader, L2235A bucket, RCR1272 72” Bush hog, BB1272 72” grading box & 20’ trailer combo.
The first thing I did was 5.0 hours of bushwacking two pastures, and 1.3 hours of grading in preparation for our future shop. The hydrostat transmission, 4-wheel drive (with lockers), and diesel engine rocks. Had we hired that labor, it would have cost us two to three of our tractor payments. Nonetheless, we’ve learned a tractor is a necessity on a farm (though we’re a tiny farm in progress). And I look forward to our ongoing relationship with Byrd Implement for maintenance and service.
Lord willing as planned, the underground shelter is next, then our 26kw whole house generator. We’re six months in, and it’s all falling into place.

Due to current circumstances, today, we topped-off our tractor with diesel fuel, and filled-up on extra. And I refuse be outside Gods will, and sinfully complain about the prices of fuel prices, but by faith, I am thankful and rejoice in those prices. This is a joy that can only come from the Lord. Soli Deo Gloria!
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thess 5:16-18).
