Pastor Sean McDowell normalizes homosexuality via his psychobabble & seemingly Gnosticism

The title of Faithwire’s below podcast grabbed my attention – ‘Faith vs. Culture – How to Love LGBTQ Children.’

Regretfully I watched it. If you’re not saved, or if you lack discernment, do not watch this podcast, because it might lead you astray. If you decide to watch it, here’s my warning.

These men (especially McDowell) sound too much like the world, as they normalize homosexuality. To add insult to injury, in my opinion, their included ‘photo overlays’ promote homosexuality. Not only is much of what they say unbiblical, but much is anti-Biblical. Including but not limited to.

Admittedly McDowell says he would hesitate to refer to Romans 1 or 1 Corinthians 6, but would only use the Scriptures in “due time.” That sounds more like Rosaria Butterfield’s tolerant friendship hospitality evangelism. When Paul commanded us to “take up the whole armor of God,” he meant the whole armor, not everything except the Sword.

It’s reasonable to suggest that McDowell might be part of that false teaching that claims Paul’s letters were not canonical (or leaning in that direction). If so, it’s a dangerous movement amongst proponents of sinful same-sex attraction, or that a person can somehow be a “gay Christian,” which is an oxymoron.

Fact is, Biblical examples of walking in “love,” wisdom, and the light are clear in Ephesians 5:1-21, and let’s not forget what 1 Corinthians 5 says how the church must handle the sexually immoral amongst us. Do the Scriptures stop when we leave the doors of our local church?

If an alleged “Christian” says they’re a homosexual (an oxymoron), then you wield the Sword and apply the Scriptures, and if necessary, practice church discipline. Not their man-centered gutless greasy grace, slope agapé and psychobabble. Frankly, this dangerously sounds like Gnosticism, and it’s a stench in the nostrils of a Holy God.

Another way to “love” your children, saved or not, is to continually share the Law and the Gospel with them while catechizing them (here, here, or here). And if (if) the Lord chooses to save them, then He will grant them repentance and give them new desires of their heart.

This movement telling others to compromise in how we should respond to others in the sin of homosexuality is demonic. If your child (or anyone) said they are a drug user, a drug dealer, a thief, a murderer, a rapist, a gang member, or a pedophile, would you sugarcoat those sins? Of course not. Therefore, we need to treat homosexuality and/or same sex attractions for what they are, a felonious transgression against a Holy God.

Forgive me for sounding personal here. But what these kids need is Biblical manhood, not some Ph.D. sporting a boy’s hairdo with Spiderman sitting on his library shelf.

As I’ve said many times before. Once a person is saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, this is how the Lord will change and use them.

They will repent – love Biblically – be salt and light – be holy – be sanctified – fear God – pray without ceasing – keep His commandments – walk circumspectly – believe in and trust Jesus – obey the Gospel – share the Gospel – preach the Gospel – contend for the faith, – hate the things that God hates, and love the things that God loves – keep the faith, work-out their salvation, and endure to the end!
