Reagan and other Presidents have been wrong regarding Russia, and my response
While serving in the 90s as the elected Vice President of a police organization, the President (a moderate Republican) warned others about me saying, “Watch out, he’s to the right of Reagan!”
Those words were meant to insult me. Nonetheless, those words have stuck with me all these years, and I receive them as a badge of honor. Since then, for years, I’ve further described myself as being “two clicks to the right of Reagan.” Finally, someone asked, “what are those clicks?”
Though I’m a Reagan fan, those two issues (or clicks) are, 1) Reagan was wrong in regard to his amnesty, and 2) he was wrong regarding Russia. And I’m on the side of Scriptures regarding Russia (Ezekiel 38-39).
At the turn of the millennium, I preached a message in Las Vegas from those two chapters. The gentleman that invited me to speak was Dr. Neil McAllister of McAllister Cadillac. I remember Neil saying, “Brother the Lord saved people at this event.” Only the Lord knows. Nonetheless, for years to come, I preached at this same event at that same casino. That was a profound ‘be ye salt of the earth, and light of the world’ experience.
Though the geopolitical climate will change with the wind, the Scriptures will never change. Doctrine and Theology matter, and so I believe in the Doctrines of the Immutability and Divine Impassibility of God, and the sufficiency of His Scripture.
Let me make this very clear. There’s not a President in this world that can thwart the Sovereign will of Almighty God. Therefore, I will trust in Him.
As it says in Psalm 146,
“Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul. While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.
Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.
Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God: Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever: Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth the prisoners:
The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous: The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the Lord.”
