The Freezing Rain phenomenon, resisting the establishment
One way professing Christians can examine themselves is how their attitude responds to the weather. In California, many grown men whined when it was “too hot.” And then they grumbled when it was “too cold.” Now in Tennessee, I’m experiencing this Freezing Rain phenomenon, but thankfully I hear less complaining. I guess some of the men and women here in the Country are tougher.
I regret not taking photos before things began to defrost, but this photo depicts how the frozen rain isolates fencing (as well as other objects), and it happens immediately. It reminded me of the villain Mr. Freeze in the old Batman TV show.
But the way the media and “authorities” handled this was similar to Covid. Though not mandatory, they proclaimed “stay at home” if you can. Many businesses announced on social media they would be closed due to “inclement weather” conditions.
But telling the Lord’s people to stay at home and not proclaim His glorious Gospel, is like telling a kid to not look in the cookie jar.
Yesterday morning at the height of this Freezing Rain, I took my chances and drove to the other side of the Tennessee River to see a Cardiologist. The Doctor scheduled me to see another specialist from the manufacturer of my Pacemaker/ICD implant, to see if the wire leads going into my heart are loose (or not).
In case you’re thinking that those of us that won’t ‘go along to get along’ with the world, do not care for others. I brought a recovery strap in case any vehicles needed to be rescued. Moreover, I brought to them what can rescue their souls.
After distributing Gospel tracts to medical professionals and others throughout three cities, I’m thankful I did not obey the media. It was an eventful day in regard to the Gospel. But sadly, much of the media and some authorities desire the Lord’s people to be sequestered.
So, what’s the moral of my story?
These events the Lord decrees are rarely as bad as the media and authorities say. The only mishap I experienced was slipping on some steps trying to enter a country café. I hit the ground so hard that if my leads weren’t loose then, they should be now. 🤣
So why should Christians (bondslaves to Christ) be resistant to the establishment? As Jesus said, Matthew 5:13-16,
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Lastly, don’t let the establishment put you under a basket. Rejoice always and be thankful for everything (1 Thess 5:16-18). God is good all the time, for it is God Almighty who decrees the degrees, as His Holy sovereign hand is on the thermostat.
As A.W. Pink said, “When we complain about the weather, we are, in reality, murmuring against God.”
