Today in San Bernardino I did some street preaching, and a lot of ‘crying-out’ from bus benches, and other various sinister places. I also engaged in many ‘one on ones,’ but due to the heat not many people were out.

Specifically I spoke to a man working at a Pernanai store, a prostitute, and a gangster. All 3 of them professed to be Christians. The nice man at the Pernanai store even used the word “saved.” When I asked them what significant occurrence or event happened in their lives that allegedly converted them, two of them told me that they “accepted Jesus,” and the guy at the Pernanai store said that he repeated the ‘sinner’s prayer.’ I asked them to show me where in the Bible it says the above to be saved, but of course they could not tell me. I then presented the ‘Law and Gospel’ to each one individually. None of them responded to the Gospel call.

But that’s OK, this is not a numbers game. My job is not to create false converts, it’s to sow the Gospel Seeds, and leave the results to God. As the late Martyn Lloyd-Jones said, “Salvation is entirely a matter of God’s free, sovereign choice… Nevertheless, it is equally true to say that if a man is not saved, it is because of his own rejection of the gospel which is offered to him.”
