Let us understand this, apply this, and demonstrate this faith.

Below is an excerpt from my teaching on verse 8.

My salvation had nothing to do with religion, popes, priests, pastors, or churches. It had nothing to do with baptism, works, ceremonies, repeating a sinner’s prayer, or accepting Jesus, or slipping my hand up in church, or making a decision, or walking forward in an unbiblical idolatrous altar call. Salvation is of the Lord alone.

To be more specific, salvation is the Divine work of the Holy Trinity. Salvation comes to others as the Father ‘chooses whom He elects.’ He draws them (gives them) to His Son for redemption (John 6:37-44; 17:2, 6, 9, 24). Christ then redeems them from their sins, through the redemptive work of Christ (John 10:15, Heb 9:11-28, Eph. 5:25b). And the Holy Spirit regenerates their heart, as He quickens them by His Spirit (Ezekiel 36:26-27, John 3:5-8, Titus 3:5-6, Rom 2:29; cf 2 Tim. 2:25, 2 Cor. 4:6, John 10:27, Acts 16:14, John 1:13).

As Matthew Henry said. “Salvation belongeth unto the Lord; he has power to save, be the danger ever so great. All that have the Lord for their God, are sure of salvation; for he who is their God, is the God of Salvation.”

Christians must give all the glory to God. 100% of my salvation belongs to 100% of my Most High God. Soli Deo Gloria!

Wolfgang Musculus (1497-1563) said, “Truly the people of God must also be careful, so that they may persevere by a solid and sincere faith in obedience to the Word of God, and so that no idolatry may repay this alien kindness of God to themselves.”

Robert Hawker (1753-1827) said, “Salvation is of God. Yes! Jesus saith, Mine own arm brought salvation, and of the people there was none with me (Isaiah 63:3-5). Oh! Lord! suffer me never to rob my God of his glory, by mingling anything of my wretchedness with the finished redemption of my Saviour. Lord Jesus do thou have all the praise, for thou alone art able to bear the glory” (Zechariah 6:12-13).

Charles Spurgeon said, “Search Scripture through, and you must, if you read it with a candid mind, be persuaded that the doctrine of salvation by grace alone is the great doctrine of the word of God: “Salvation belongeth unto the Lord.” This is a point concerning which we are daily fighting. Our opponents say, “Salvation belongeth to the free will of man; if not to man’s merit, yet at least to man’s will;” but we hold and teach that salvation from first to last, in every iota of it, belongs to the Most High God. It is God that chooses his people. He calls them by his grace; he quickens them by his Spirit, and keeps them by his power. It is not of man, neither by man; “not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy.” May we all learn this truth experimentally, for our proud flesh and blood will never permit us to learn it in any other way. In the last sentence the peculiarity and speciality of salvation are plainly stated: “Thy blessing is upon thy people.” Neither upon Egypt, nor upon Tyre, nor upon Nineveh; thy blessing is upon thy chosen, thy blood-bought, thine everlastingly-beloved people. “Selah:”
