Man tries to silence preacher, woman tells me keep preaching, another man questions the Bible, a couple has lots of questions (Romans 5:12-15)
My voice was not too loud (as others confirmed). Often times worldlings will lie claiming “it’s too loud,” because they are haters of God. Had I been using my Toa megaphone (which would have been inappropriate), then perhaps he is correct. But here I am using an Aker-38.
“No sort of defense is needed for preaching out of doors; but it would need very potent arguments to prove that a man had done his duty who has never preached beyond the walls of his meeting house. A defense is required rather for services within buildings than for worship outside of them. Apologies are certainly wanted for architects who pile up brick and stone into the skies when there is so much need for preaching rooms among poor sinners down below.” ~ Charles Spurgeon
Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones said of George Whitefield, “They must not wait for souls to come to them. They must go after souls, and compel them to come in. He [Whitefield] did not sit tamely by his fireside…. He dived into holes and corners after sinners. He hunted out people, and their sin, that he might present Christ to them.”
“Perhaps if there were more of that intense distress for souls that leads to tears, we should more frequently see the results we desire. Sometimes it may be that while we are complaining of the hardness of the hearts of those we are seeking to benefit, the hardness of our own hearts and our feeble apprehension of the solemn reality of eternal things may be the true cause of our want of success.” – Hudson Taylor
