Beer n HymnsA Watchman Alert: Sadly the ‘Beer & Hymns’ sect has come to Redlands, by Chaplain Bill

As I say this please understand that I have not forgotten where I came from. And that I must ‘take heed lest I fall’ back to where I was. I write this with a heart of sorrow, with fear and reverence for the Lord, with concerns for the reputation of Christ’s bride, and for the lost.

To those revilers that will probably take the Lord out of context by saying “judge not lest you be judged,” please read the rest of Matthew chapter 7. I have no plank in my eye, because I no longer drink alcohol. And according to 1 Corinthians chapter 5, this is a ‘Biblical judgment.’ I am extending grace to the below by not inputting their names. My intent is not to expose them individually, but to warn the church by exposing this movement.

It wasn’t until last year that I first learned about the ‘beer and hymns’ movement. Then in my most recent trip to Louisiana, I learned this movement was in the Bible Belt. This is where professed Christians host “Bible studies” and drink beer and sing together. Or they will go to bars for fellowship and do the same. I am sad to learn that ‘Beer and Hymns’ has come to my city. After examining the above flier on Facebook, it does not surprise me which persons (that profess to be Christians) are participating in this worldly movement. The ones I do know are very emergent. One of the ladies is a proponent of Rob Bell’s book and his false doctrine called ‘universalism’ (that there is no hell). I scanned through some of the ladies Facebook pages, and I saw more cleavage than Christ.

Folks this is what the Bible warns us about. The Scripture says ‘you will know them by their fruits.’

My friends, thou we will still sin, the Bible commands us to “FLEE” from these things. To be a “Holy Priesthood,” to be “sanctified,” “set apart,” from the worlds system; and to “repent” from this fleshly nonsense.

This is an excerpt from one Facebook page (an invite to this famous pub in our town). Bear in mind he professes to be a Christian. “Come join us… Everything you can expect is right in the name, with no added proselytizing, preaching, or preservatives, just 100%, all-natural Beers&Hymns. Plus, a portion of the proceeds will go to helping orphans in Kenya! Good drinks, good songs, good fun, and a chance to literally help kids in Africa. What more could you ask for from an old-fashioned sing-a-long?”

The same person also posted this blasphemous quote. “God has a brown voice, as soft and full as beer.’ –Anne Sexton, poet”.

I am very aware of two churches that two of them attend. They are ‘gracers’ which encourage their sheep to abuse God’s grace, and willfully continue to sin in the name of “grace.’ They produce many false converts by telling the non-saved to merely “accept Jesus” or “repeat this prayer,” and they are declared to be born-again; all with no Biblical discipleship.

Another one of them belongs to a “christian” group called “SoCal Greasy Gracers.” The following is their statement of faith. “Greasy Gracers,’ living in Southern California! We are the Greasy Gracers… We believe in Sloppy Agape… We have experienced His Reckless Love…”

There is a big part of me that wants to look the other way, and ignore this. But when they promote this publicly, and do this in the name of Christ, or as a ministry fundraiser, we must not just look the other way.

Having said all that would you stand with me in prayer, that these ‘professed’ believers will be enlightened to the truth. I am so thankful to the Lord that He delivered me from this emergent life-style. Only by the grace of God so go I.

Please pray that the Lord will intervene. Please pray that the Lord will grant them repentance, and that He will save those that are not saved.

Please pray that the ‘doctrine of sanctification’ will take place in their lives (which it will if they’re saved).

However as one valued minister said “Hard to imagine that anyone who leads and/or participates in this spiritual facade is a genuine Christ bought believer, but I will join you in prayer, brother, nonetheless.”

And please pray that more Christians will stand up for righteousness by saying “no” to this type of pseudo churchianity. It’s not popular to stand against this, but it’s what were called to do. “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them” (Ephesians 5:11).

I am grateful for the evangelist that walked into a bar many years ago, and rebuked me for patronizing that place. That is a Biblical love. Moreover I am forever grateful to the Lord, that He sanctified me to ‘hate the things that God hates, and love the things that God loves.’

Update 11-19-14: After this ‘Beer and Hymns’ party, I observed some of my Facebook friends post (boast) about it on Facebook. These buildings that we call ‘church’ are full of sheep, goats, tares and wolves. Which one are you?

Here’s a great video for you younger folks. “So you’re a Christian huh?”
