Video preaching on ‘The ‘baby Jesus’ that’s not taught in many churches at Christmas time (downtown Redlands)

Today in downtown Redlands I did a lot of ‘walking & talking’ about baby Jesus, and the meaning of Christmas. I also distributed Gospel tracts. And I did some preaching into the open-air. This is a portion of that labor of love.

“In answer to your inquiry, I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell.” – William Booth, Founder of The Salvation Army

Update: There are some ‘professed’ believers that believe preaching the Gospel in the public “turns people off.” Well they are partially correct. Because those that are ‘turned off’ will perish, but those that get ‘turned on’ God saved. Preaching the Gospel in public is not an option, it is a commandment.

But what I do see that is a “turn off,” are those that major on the minors by opposing Christmas (and judging others that celebrate Christmas). Brethren, let us not judge the intents or motives of those that celebrate Christmas. Surely for most, Christmas time is nothing but worldliness and commercialism; but not for all.

The Rhetts family will celebrate Christmas. However my wife and I are not celebrating the ‘holiday,’ we are celebrating the ‘birth of Jesus.’ After all the Bible did mention the birth of Jesus, and that prophetic event is worthy of celebration (for HE is worthy). Frankly we celebrate Christ’s birth, death, and resurrection every day.

For the record I’ve never told my kids (nor grand-kids) the lie about Santa. I’ve always pointed them to Jesus, and His birth. And during the Christmas season, I preach the Gospel both inside and outside of department stores (that’s uncanny). To those of you that legislate your personal convictions to others (re Christmas,) that is legalism.

Jesus said in John 13:35, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another (Galatians 5:22-26).
