Men, be watchful of books given to your family – Federal Headship
The original sin in the garden was named after Adam – aka the first Adam, not Eve. Albeit Eve sinned in the garden, Adam was responsible. So it was thru Adam that sin entered the entire human race (Rom 5:12). Adam is the predecessor of sin and representative of all mankind (aka federal headship).
Therefore, today’s husbands are the head and representatives of their wives and family. I sometimes refer to the Christian husband as the family’s ‘first pastor.’ That is why the doctrine of federal headship is important to understand and apply.
Many husbands today are like Adam then, and some wives are better Bereans than their husbands. Nonetheless, though a husband should never lord over his wife, he is called to love her and lead her as a Biblical watchman, protector, and/or SheepDog.
One way of applying this great responsibility is for husbands to know what “Christian books” enter their homes or are given to their wives. And if necessary, intercept some books (Eccl. 12:12). I enjoy our books but have joyfully burned a few that have been gifted to us (Acts 19:18-20).
Men and women. Unless we’re doing research for apologetic purposes, we should not be entertaining our eyes, minds, hearts, and souls with bad doctrine or studying under authors who did not end well. As a Reformed & Covenantal Theologian, who is a 1689 confessional believer, I don’t want books that undermine where the Lord has brought (sanctified) me and my wife.

Cayla Craft is worse than Eve who was deceived in the garden. Cayla Craft is a ‘crafty’ deceiver like the serpent in the garden (Gen 3:1). She is a byproduct of spiritually neutered pastors who sinfully teach their churches women are “equal to man,” or “equal to their husband.”
